Height 9.2 cm, mouth diameter 14.5 cm, base diameter 6.0 cm
Setoguro, which started in the Eiroku period and seems to have been popular during the Tensho period, was always a straightforward style of work, but it was then grained and distorted, and the mouth structure became thicker, giving rise to the so-called kutsugata teacups.
The distorted Kutsu-shape tea bowl is said to be Oribe’s favorite, and the black tea bowl with black glaze over the entire surface is called Oribe black. This tea bowl is a masterpiece of Oribe black, and it is large and strongly molded, with eyes on the mouth and body, and the jet-black melted black glaze is applied in a triangular shape around the base. Probably made from the end of the Tensho period to the beginning of the Keicho period.
