 Among the tea caddies that are said to be Oribe’s favorites, there are some tea caddies that have been called “hungry demon belly” since ancient times. This tea caddy has “hungry demon belly” written in Katagiri Ishizhou’s calligraphy on the front of the lid of the inner box. This tea caddy has ears on both sides near the shoulders, and one side of the body is strongly indented. The body is covered with a black glaze with a fine stripe pattern, and a feldspar glaze is applied over the black glaze until near the hem. The bottom of the bowl has an ito-bottom.
