Height 10.3 cm, mouth diameter 2.5 cm, bottom diameter 4.5 cm
We have seen several gourd-shaped tea caddies and wakes of this style, but this is probably the most beautiful of them all. The tight body and hem are interesting, and the chamotori-like spatula-modelling on the hem tightens the overall shape. The shoulders are also spatula-trimmed, and vertical stripes have been added to the four sides of the body. The bottom is flat with an “X” mark, and the body is also spatula-engraved with an “X” and “Ya” mark. The body also has an “X” and “Ya” mark carved on the spatula. One side of the body from the mouth has a bright reddish color, while the other side is burnished to a dark grayish brown with ashes, but the clay skin is softly burned, making this a masterpiece with a deep wabi-like atmosphere.
