Height 27.1 cm, mouth diameter 9.1 cm, left and right 16.2 cm, bottom diameter 12.8 cm
This is an oddly shaped vase. The neck is thick, and the body is stretched at the center and the hem is narrow. The right side of the body is decorated with a circle and latticework spatula carving pattern, and the back is clearly marked with a single horizontal stripe. The ears on either side of the body from the head to the body are bent in the middle, which is interesting and shows a truly unrestrained style. The upper front is covered with light green yuzu, the back is burnt red, the lower half is burnt black or purple-brown, and the clay skin from the base to the bottom is softly burnished. There are two large cracks on the body and one in the center of the bottom. The back of the vessel is marked “Kingin”.
There are inscriptions “Iwakato” on the back of the lid of the inner box and “Araki Munemasa, Iga ware floral artist (hanashii)” on the back of the lid.
