Iga Water jar
Iga Water jar

Height 17.2 cm, mouth diameter 21.9 cm, bottom diameter 17.2 cm
This is a single-layer water jar in the so-called “onioke” style. It has a simple shape and is almost completely unglazed, giving the body of the container a unique appearance of black charring, as if it were a rain cloud. The flat bottom is thinly made, and the kiln marks “T” and “L” are engraved on the bottom. It is said to be an Iga water jar, but it is not clear whether it is Iga or Shigaraki. However, it is more tightly fired than the so-called Shigaraki type, and is still in the Iga style.
