While many choshi were made in Bizen, few were made in Tamba. As far as we know, this is the only known example. The entire piece has a rough and rugged finish, and the hand is spatula-engraved with a linear pattern. The shoulders are also covered with lines, and the body is partially covered with black glaze from the shoulders to the body. The bottom of the bowl is flat. It was probably made in the early Edo period.
