Like the plate with the bow-breaking design, this is a representative example of the variant type of dish. This dish is commonly called a princess dish because it depicts a woman dressed in juni-hitoe (twelve-layered kimono). The basic pattern is the same on both plates, but there are differences in the details and color scheme. The outer surface of each piece is covered with fine arabesque patterns, while the outer surface of the stand is decorated with a comb pattern and the inscription “Fugi Changchun” is written inside the stand. These pieces were probably made at about the same time.
