Bowl with, enamelled ware

Bowl with rose and flowering grass design, enamelled ware

These pieces are almost the same in style as those that were handed down to Hampton Court Palace in England, and were probably made between the Jokyo and Genroku periods.
The Kakiemon style has now perfected the finest milky white hand-ware. The base is nearly pure white with a dense porcelain body and correct molding. Another characteristic of this style is that many of the pots are octagonal in shape. The bowl with rose and flowers design in overglaze enamels has a twin-phoenix flying cloud design on the prospective side, a rose design with branches extending to the left and right on the outer side, and a flower and butterfly design on the reverse side. The bowl with a design of hydrangea and paulownia phoenixes in overglaze enamels shows a flying phoenix roundel design and paulownia on the prospective side, and hydrangea with branches and leaves stretched out on both sides on the outer side.
