There is a type of Kōji ware incense container called “Gakubai”. This incense container is a reproduction of the Gakubai, but with a lid decorated in the style of a sandalwood lacquerware container. It is a square incense container with four corners, and the body and sides of the lid are decorated with chrysanthemum and peony motifs in over The lid is decorated with a design of plum trees in relief, and gold leaf and amber-colored lacquer have been applied over this. The base of the lid is stamped with the Yongle mark, and both the body and the lid are covered in white glaze. The lid of the box is inscribed with the words “Kouchi Shagaku Baika Gō, Zengorō Zō”.
