This is a large, flat jar with a remarkably large diameter in relation to its height. In view of its shape, it is thought to have been made in the Nanbokucho period. The clay is coarse with many fine grains of feldspar and is not fully fired, giving it a brownish-brown color. The folded edge of the mouth band is very wide. There are two stamps on the shoulder and a 箟描 kiln mark, which is rare in Tokoname.
