Sohshun-o Chado Kikki (Sohshun-o Tea Ceremony Hearings)

marusankakusikaku

Tea ceremony book. There is an inscription in the back dated 1600. The author is attributed to Muneharu Hariya, a tea master in Kyoto. Muneharu, who went by the name Hankakusai, is said to have once greeted Hideyoshi at a tea ceremony on a snowy night and served him a cup of washed rice, which impressed him. In addition to the tea ceremony in general, this book includes sections on the tea ceremony itself, how to make dewdrops, tea caddies, tea pots, tea leaves, tea pots, flower vases, tea bowls, tea kettles, and ink paintings, and contrasts the Oribe and Doan styles. This is a valuable book on the tea ceremony.
