Takinami
Takinami

Chukyo specialties. Kinkasan tea caddy, Takinami copy of the poem. This tea caddy was inscribed by Enshu Kobori because of its resemblance to the scenery of Takinami in the drooping glaze of a tea caddy. The body is slightly narrowed with a rounded rim and a low steamer with a stroked shoulder. The body is slightly bent and the hem is slightly stretched. The ground is colored with persimmon gold, and a black glaze is applied unevenly around the shoulder. The luster is not so brilliant as the name “Takinami,” but the shape is round and not angular, giving this tea caddy a very gentle appearance. In 1678 (Enpo 6), this tea caddy passed from the Kobori family to Tsuchiya Sagamimori, and then to Matsudaira Fumai during the Kansei era (1789-1801). It was purchased by Matsudaira Fumai during the Kansei era (1789-1801), and has been passed down through the Unshu family ever since.
