Hannelera
Hannelera

An extremely juvenile type of earthenware called hannera was imported during the Edo period and is found on water jars and their lids. There is only a vague idea that it is a product of the South Seas Islands, but its etymology and place of origin are unknown. The Bantanaosi clay pots of Silla (Thailand) are what our tea masters call hannera, and are said to be products of the Paluang royal period.
