15th century
Height 28.6 cm, mouth diameter 17.3 cm, body diameter 26.6 cm, bottom diameter 16.7 cm
The outwardly bent mouth rim is extended up and down to form a broad rim band, a characteristic of Iga and Shigaraki vessels. Judging from the loose joint between the shoulder and the still short head, it is thought to have been made around the beginning of the 15th century. The clay is dense with fine particles of feldspar, and is well fired to a brownish-brown color, and the natural glaze on the mouth and shoulders has turned cloudy. There is a kiln mark on the shoulder.
