Chōjiro: cylindrical tea bowl, Black Raku

Height 9.6 cm, mouth diameter 8.1-8.6 cm, high stand diameter 4,9 cm
There are quite a few tubular tea bowls in Chojiro ware. Among them, this tea bowl, called “Kinewore,” is one of the best. The mouth rim is high and low, and the body is tightened. The high base is low, the tatami mat is wide, and the inside of the base is clearly and shallowly carved.
The inside of the base has been carved shallowly and the center of the bowl is deeply filled with tea leaves. The glazed surface is dull and shiny on the outside and brownish inside, and there are three marks on the tatami surface. On the cover of the inner box, Muneaki wrote “Chôjirô-yaki Kurotsutsu” and on the inner box, Furusai wrote “Chôjirô-yaki Kurotsutsu Chawan (Black Tea Bowl) with inscription Muneaki Furusai (hanaoshi)” and Rokusai also inscribed the inscription.
