Yellow Seto mukōzuke (small dish or bowl for vinegared food) bowl with cover surmounted by chrysanthemum knob

Height 6.0 cm, mouth diameter 15.9 cm, bottom diameter 8.6 cm
This large bowl with a lid is decorated with a generous ten-petaled chrysanthemum flower knob, and is so large that it could be called a small bowl. It is a particularly fine example of Mino tableware, with fine workmanship in a chunky style, and is particularly desirable among many Mino tableware. Moreover, it is rare that all five pieces have been handed down intact. The inside of the body is decorated with cherry blossoms and a design of “choji” (a Chinese character for the Chinese zodiac sign). The backs of the lids are also engraved with chrysanthemum patterns, such as “Choko” and “Kibune Chrysanthemum,” in lines, and are covered with vitrified vitriol. The back of the lid is also engraved with chrysanthemum patterns in lines, such as the Choko pattern and the Kibune chrysanthemum. The Kizeto glaze applied over the entire surface is quite thin on the outside, but thicker on the inside, creating a moist, fried skin. The rim of the lid is unglazed, revealing an earthen surface, and the round bottom has a low base. The back of the lid, which shows a chrysanthemum design, is as beautiful and lingering as a painting.
