Among the black Oribe tea caddies, there are only a few with such a varied pictorial design, and this tea caddy also shows the free and flexible decorativeness seen in 85 tea bowls. The black glaze is scraped off to reveal a ladder-like pattern, and on the white ground with the black glaze removed, a flowing water pattern is painted in iron with a feldspar glaze over it. The base has a thread bottom.
