This is highly regarded as a representative example of an old Karatsu Oku Korai tea bowl. The name “Korekan Karatsu” is said to refer to a doctor named Korekan Nakao, who once owned this bowl. The date of manufacture is estimated to be before the Bunroku era, but the kiln and kiln are not known. This tea bowl has a simple and relaxed shape with a slightly warped edge, a low and wide base carved out, and a slightly thicker body from the bottom to the body. The base is made of coarse clay mixed with small sand, slightly containing iron, and the exposed body is burnt brown. The inner surface and the outer edge of the body are covered with a thick feldspar glaze containing earth and ash, and the glaze has a soft and moist texture. The inner surface of the vessel has a plum blossom peel-like shrinkage and there are five small marks. There is a stone crack on the upper part of the body.
