This is the most elegant of the many remaining Okukorai teacups, and has a deep Karatsu flavor. The mouth is slightly rounded at the waist, and the high stand is narrowed down to the tatami mat with a spiral helmet in the center. The entire surface of the bowl, except for the area around the base, is evenly coated with a glaze that shows fine penetrations, and the oxidizing firing process has given the bowl a strong reddish loquat color. The glaze is especially beautiful among Okukoryo tea bowls, which are commonly called “akadeki” (red workmanship). The base is relatively white. It may be Shi no Mine Kiln.
