This is a piece from the Hozashira kiln, and is thought to have been excavated from the kiln site. It is a rather small tea bowl with a distorted oval shape at the mouth. The inside and outside are lightly covered with a white straw ash glaze, and the glaze has a mottled appearance like that of sea squirt. It is a typical mottled karatsu. The base of the bowl has been cut out carelessly, revealing a sandy, crumbly clay surface.
