This is a high rising jar with a taut body, a slightly outwardly bowed mouth rim, a thickly carved base, and a single thin tatami mat. The body is decorated on two sides with an ash design, and the glaze is softly burnished. It is not known where this jar was fired, but it is assumed to have been made at the Koraishin Kiln in Ichinose. This is a typical example of this type of jar.
