This is a water jar modeled after arrow-necked water jars fired in Mino and Bizen. Shino water jars do not have a body with ears, and this style is rather similar to the arrow-necked water jar of Bizen, but there is no other example of this type in Ekarazu. The body is decorated with paintings of hollyhock, sawazaru, and aboshi spear-plum blossoms. The body is decorated with paintings of hollyhock, sawazaru, aboshi spear and plum blossoms, etc. The inside of the body has a blue ocean wave pattern and an “X” mark is engraved on the bottom. It was probably fired in the Fuji-no-Kawauchi or Jioya-no-Tani kilns.
