This nearly cylindrical container was probably originally made as a hanging flower vase. It has a rather wide lid with a spatula around it. One side is covered with ash that has turned black or yellowish, while the other side is reddish and brightly burnished. This is another excellent example of this type of fine mizusashi with a vivid landscape. There is a kiln mark on the front of the lid and a kiln mark on the bottom.
