This is a stout cylindrical vase with a thickly molded body. The top and bottom of the body are carved horizontally with spatula to add variety to the simple shape of the vessel, and several vertical spatula marks have been added. The body is tightly fired, but one side has a grayish or blackish hue diagonally from the mouth while the other side has a reddish-brown hue. It is one of the best examples of this type of tubular vase, and there are still traces of kanzuke holes filled in on the front and back of the mouth.
