This is a thick, sturdy, and large kutsu-shape tea bowl with a deep prospect, and a low stand with a wide tatami mat is firmly attached to the bowl. The body is covered with a hinokigaki pattern, which is probably common to the Oribe style of tea bowls in Mino. The outside has a thin layer of yellowish sesame glaze, and the inside has changed to gray and red. There is no other tea bowl of this style, and it is extremely rare. It was donated by Mr. Hirota Matsushige to the Okayama Prefectural Koto-kan, and is inscribed “Tadaima” (meaning “now”), as Taniguchi Kokanro, who was a sukiya of Okayama Prefecture, returned to Okayama for the first time in many years.
