This flat kataguchi-guchi, with the mouth held inward, is a rare example of this type. It is thought to be an old piece of this type of kataguchi-guchi. The exterior is coated with a sesame glaze, and the prospective ware has been fired to a grayish-brown color. It appears to have been fired under a submerged firing, and there is a circular hole on the bottom where the sesame glaze has fallen. A kiln mark is spatula-engraved in the center of the bottom.
