Height of the lid 6.4 cm, height of the body 3.9 cm, diameter of the mouth 3.5 cm, and diameter of the bottom 2.8 cm.
This is a lovely and tasteful incense container with a unique appearance. It was made by hand, with a taut, zanguri-style body and a lid with a large string, giving it the appearance of a hall standing on a street by the fieldside. The clay skin is softly burned, white on one side and burnt red on the other. One side is white and the other side is reddish brown, showing the characteristic Shigaraki texture. On the back of the box lid, there is an inscription that reads, “From Kuki Osumi no Mamoru-sama, dated June 7, Kanpo 1 (the first year of the Kanpo era).
