Shigaraki Hanging flower vase of shakuhachi (bamboo flute) shape, known as "kaina"

Height 30.0cm, mouth diameter 5.1cm, bottom diameter 4.7cm
Omotesenke
This is a thin cylindrical flower vase shaped like a shakuhachi (bamboo flute), with Sotan’s signature “腕旦 (花押)” written directly on the back in vermilion lacquer. It is a unique and interesting example of Sotan Shigaraki work, and is thought to be representative of the so-called Sotan Shigaraki of the Sotan period. On the front of the lid of the box is inscribed “Shigaraki Ware Shakuhachi Hanasei” and on the back of the lid “Shigaraki Ware Genpaku Mei Armbu Un Souza (Hanaseki) j” by Omotesenke 9th generation Ryōrōsai. It was handed down to the Shushin-an and is typical of the taste of Sotan, who lived a life of apology for tea ceremonies.
