Height 6.2 cm, mouth diameter 23.3 cm, base diameter n.7 cm
This is one of the most “Tenkei” style paintings among Arita’s underglaze blue ceramics, with a red rim around the mouth and a slightly raised base. The source of the design is unknown, but it is likely to be a representation of a Chinese legend. It is also characterized by its overall thickness. It is also characterized by its thick body. This type of pottery is also called “Ai-kutani,” but it was probably fired at the Hyakuman Kiln. The three sides of the reverse side are decorated with cloud patterns.
