From the latter half of the 6th century, the shape of the lidless cup changed to one in which the waist of the upper part of the cup is bent and rises up. The foot of the base became thinner, with a sunken line in the center to create a two-tiered three-way openwork, but the fact that such a thin cylinder could be ground shows the improvement of wheel-thrown techniques.
