 This is a circular bowl with a warped mouth, commonly known as an “asagao” shape. This is also a bowl shape unique to Imari ceramics. The center of the prospect is decorated with the character “Kotobuki” (longevity) in gold on a red ground, the three sides with a design of Chinese flowers on a red ground, and the three sides with a design of Chinese flowers on a white ground, and the ground is filled with dye. The outside is decorated with a dragon and phoenix design on a red ground on two sides, with cloud and treasure motifs. The inscription “Made in the year of Daming Jiajing” is inscribed within the inner circle of the high stand.
