This jar is made of a milky-white hand-white porcelain vase, which is considered to be the most distinctive feature of the Kakiemon style.
The pure white glaze is soft and free of bluish tints, and the four overglaze painted in red, yellow, green, and blue are truly gorgeous and bright in color.
The design of the base, shoulder, hem, and base of the body with two or a single red line around it is the basic style of this type of agarwood vase, This design is a composition unique to the Kakiemon style, which was influenced by the Chinese Nanjing red painting and was made into a Japanese style. The style of wrapping a circular body with a taiko-seki stone center and floral branches on either side was typical of Kakiemon-style colored porcelain before the Genroku era (1688-1704), but this vase, with its broad and spacious design, seems to be a slightly earlier example. The three sides of the shoulders have windows in the kakusa-ma style with a peony and branch design, while the ground is covered with a cloisonne pattern and a Warabi-like pattern is arranged around the lower shoulder. There are many Kakiemon style agarwood vases in the world, but such a brilliant one is extremely rare. There are still some sandy grain patterns on the base of the pot.
