This is a representative example of Kakiemon-style color painting using the finest milky white clay, and its shape and design composition clearly suggest that it was made to the liking of European aristocrats. Hexagonal jars of this type were ordered in pairs with various designs, and the crest-like patterns on the three sides of the shoulders must have been specially ordered. The three sides of the body are painted with plum blossoms and Chinese figures, pine trees and two cranes, and bamboo and two birds, each painted in a calm brushstroke.
