Each piece shows the same pattern, which is molded from the same mold, and the base is slightly yellowish with a slightly dull coloring. It is interesting to note that the overglaze coloring on each piece is different, even though they are of the same shape and design. This type of pitcher is recorded by the Dutch trading house in 1659 (Manji 2), and is presumed to be a piece exported to Mocha. Although not in the Kakiemon style, it is valuable material for examining Arita’s color painting before the early Kanbun period.
