Bowl with, enamelled ware

Bowl with flower design, enamelled ware

These are octagonal rimmed bowls, also made of dyed brocade. The outside of the bowl is decorated with floral motifs, while the prospective side is decorated with plum, peony, and chrysanthemum designs in dyed brocade, and the other four sides are decorated with Western-style floral motifs in overglaze enamels only. There is one mark on the base of the bowl. The bowl is decorated with plum blossoms on one side, bamboo on the other, and chrysanthemums, wisteria, and other floral motifs on the prospective side, and has an arabesque design around the rim similar to that on the bowl with peach motifs in overglaze enamels. The rim is decorated with an arabesque design similar to that of the color-painted bowls with peach motifs. It is probably from the Genroku period (1688-1704) or later.
