Dish on three legs with pine-tree design. blue and white

Height 7.5 cm, Aperture 29.6 cm, Tripod
This is a typical underglaze blue tripod platter. This is a typical example of a tripod dish with a low base and chrysanthemum-leaf shaped legs on three sides, but the overall shape is rather large and the rise is shallow. Again, the highest quality white porcelain was used, and both the shaping and the underglaze blue coloring show a high degree of precision without neglecting a single stroke. The pine tree with branches stretching out in an interesting manner is well represented by the use of a circular screen. The pine trunk and branches are painted with surprisingly fine and even thin staining, and the pine needles, which are drawn in a round shape, are white out with a fine ink brush to create a variety of shades in the underglaze blue, giving the painting a thicker look, The technique is superior to that of Ming and Qing dynasty Chinese underglaze blue. The three sides of the foot are decorated with an open-branched magnolia-like branch pattern, and the underglaze blue is also extremely elegant, with the flowers in pale colors and the leaves in darker colors. The wide serpentine base has needle marks, but all tripod dishes of this style are of excellent workmanship. The tripod dishes of this style seem to have been of exceptional quality, even among large dishes.
