This is one of the so-called Nabeshima seven-sun dishes, and is highly regarded as the best of the seven-sun dishes.
The octagonal shape of the dish is slightly warped at the mouth and the rim is slightly raised. As shown in the figure, the base of the dish is rounded, and the eight sides are gently ridged from the base to form an octagonal dish. The character for “Kotobuki” (longevity) in the center of the prospect is outlined in white on a dyed ground to establish the center of the pattern, and the arrangement of the eight beads around it is very interesting, and the effect of the design is further enhanced by the use of blue, red, and yellow coloring and underglaze blue. Surrounding the beads are lively hoze patterns, creating a festive atmosphere rich in the Edo period. The design on the reverse side is also unique to the eight-sided design. The design on the reverse side also has a special peony flower pattern on eight sides, but since each side forms a ladder shape from the base to the mouth, the tips of the peony leaves are drawn by stretching and contracting them accordingly, which is quite meticulous. The base is covered with a comb pattern. The white porcelain body, which can be seen on the tatami mats, is of high quality, and it should be noted that there is not the slightest stain on it.
