This is an excellent example of an old Nabeshima-style seven-sun dish with a flat, shallow warp. Because it is glazed with fresh glaze, the cherry tree trunks, the peony arabesque with fine lines on the reverse side, and the cloisonne plateau design are all deeply colored. The cherry tree pattern on the lower half of the piece has a painterly effect. The flowers are all painted with red lines, and the yellow dots on the stamens are elegant despite their light coloring. There are only a few other seven-sided dishes of this type, and there are very few similar examples.
