Shaku-suke (blue-and-white) dishes have been handed down in greater numbers than iroe (underglaze blue) and celadon blue-and-white dishes, but it is likely that more blue-and-white dishes were fired than the latter. Among these, this dish with a reed pattern in a stream is the most outstanding. It has the painterly flavor of an ink painting, beautifully rendered in dark and light tinted underglaze blue ink with a brush. The base is a comb-shaped base.
