Early 6th century hasō still has a thick neck, with the ratio of the length of the mouth margin band to the neck in the range of 2:1 to 3:1. It is common for the entire surface of the mouth and neck to be decorated with fine comb-grained wavy patterns. The body of this vessel is formed by winding up corded clay, and is shaped by beating and scraping. The entire surface of the vessel is blackened due to smoked firing and reduction, and the shoulders are covered with a dark green natural glaze.
