This wide-mouthed jar is from the final stage of Sue ware. It is made of coarse clay with pebbles chewed into it and formed by winding up the clay string and molding it into a single piece from the body to the neck of the mouth. This molding method is unique to early medieval kilns in various regions. The ware is extremely well finished, with a white sesame-like natural glaze covering half of the surface.
