This is a bowl of the Unkinte style, which was the specialty of Doi Hachi, and is a Kenzan-style copy of a Kenzan bowl. The design, which uses iron oxide to depict cherry blossoms and maple leaves, is used in various bowls and incense burners, but this bowl is the largest of the lot. The maple leaf pattern is on one side and the cherry blossom pattern is on the other, and the glaze is a grayish-brown color with red highlights. There is a mark on the inside of the bowl indicating that it is the seventh piece made, and the mark “Michihachi” is stamped on the left side of the foot ring.
