 This so-called tiered dish with a tiered inner surface is considered to be a tsingko, as described in the Engishiki (Engi Shiki). Some have a wide rim band and some have a narrow rim band, and those with a wide rim band, such as this dish, do not have a tier on the reverse side. It was probably made in the late 10th century.
