Excavated from Kannon Kiln, Seto City, Aichi Prefecture, Japan
14th century
Height 24.7 cm, mouth diameter 3.7 cm, body diameter 17.2 cm, bottom diameter 10.7 cm
This is a plum vase from the peak of the Koseto period, with a sealed floral motif filling the entire surface.
The oral part is slightly misshapen and the body has a large, chunky base. It is wheel-thrown and has a three-tiered design on the surface.
The main design is a lotus arabesque stamped on the upper half of the body, a sword-tip design on the lower half, and a petal design on the upper rim of the shoulder. The firing is very good, and the entire surface is covered with a dark green ash glaze.
