This is an early example of a standardized katakuchi small jar, made in the late Kamakura period. It is made of yellowish-white, slightly rough clay, and has lines in the shape of chinkaku (sunken lines) on the water-finish and the body. The iron glaze is a brownish-brown candy glaze, not yet authentic. There is some paint residue on the bottom.
