14th century
Height 18.5 cm, diameter 5.5 cm, body diameter 8.1 cm
This is a rather oddly shaped Buddhist vase with a short orifice on a vertical body. Because of the short mouthpiece, the two side rings of the “fusuma ring” reach the rim of the mouth. The body is decorated with an arabesque design of plum blossoms. The bottom has a high base with a strong tension. The iron glaze has an uneven blackish-brown tone, with a predominant black tinge throughout.
