This is a small jar with a flattened body and a large base. It is unusual in that part of the mouth rim with a folded rim band has been pressed from both sides to form a tobiguchi-style vessel. The form of this jar suggests that it belongs to the Nanboku-cho period. As mentioned earlier, this type of small katakuchi jar is extremely rare in Tokoname. This vessel was probably consciously made as an oil jar from the beginning, but it is thought that it was not standardized as a small katakuchi jar in Tokoname. The reddish-brown surface of the vessel is covered with feldspar, and the yellowish-green natural glaze on half of the body is a highlight of the piece.
