In addition to the former type of kataguchibachi (ground bowl), flat-bottomed kataguchibachi like this bowl with a long spout were produced in the Kamakura period (1192-1333). Both types are characterized by a flat bottom without a base, a large base, and a slightly concave mouth rim. They were probably used for different purposes than the large flat-bottomed pots. Although a part of the wall of the bowl is cracked, the blackened surface of the ware shows the characteristic of Tokoname. This is one of the representative examples of kataguchi pots from the middle of the Kamakura period.
