Nanjing seems to be a vague term for Chinese red-painted porcelain. However, among the Ming dynasty red glaze porcelains, the underglaze ones have the name of old red glaze porcelain. There is also another type called gosu-aka-e. Akae Nanjing is usually referred to as red-painted porcelain made for export during the Kangxi and Yongzheng (1662-1735) periods of the Qing Dynasty, with delicate red painting on thin, milky-white porcelain with a lot of luster.
