Antimony (Antimon)

marusankakusikaku

Antimony is the main emulsifying and coloring agent in An Chang glazes. It is most effective as an emulsifier in glazes with S.K1 or less. It is used in the form of antimony oxide (Sb2O) and antimony trioxide (Sb2Os) in the preparation of raw materials. It is also widely used in paint pigments as Naples yellow (Pbs(SbO)), but also in glazes. Sodium antimonate (2NaSbOg7H2O) is used in glazes to produce yellow and orange colors as well as in emulsions. Cobalt oxide and antimony sulfate are also mixed with the glaze to produce the green color of roof tiles. (“Glazes and Their Pigments”)
